Please see below for information regarding elective signups, confirmation, laptop ordering and more.
If you are interested at all in getting volunteer hours coaching cross country or soccer, please let me know. We are still working on closing those positions and need help if you think you'd enjoy that! We appreciate the consideration.
Middle school always comes with lots of new information, so please let me know if you have any questions about any of these topics at all. We are here to help as you navigate the process.
We'll see you soon!
Blessings,
Beth O'Reilly

Laptop Usage and Technology
As part of our 1:1 technology programming, our middle schoolers will have their devices with them throughout the school day. These devices certainly aid in educational productivity, but unmanaged, can be distracting.
Please help us in reiterating that our standard practice is "laptops down" unless the teachers designate it a technology time.
Smartwatches and phones are not allowed, unless there is a medical reason and approval with administration. Any questions about technology or other policies, please let us know!
If you are a new 6th grade parent or a new student in 7th or 8th grade, please click this link for the chromebook order forms.
Chromebooks will be handed out during the supply drop off day on 8/27 in Feist Hall.
Progress Reports
Weekly progress reporting will begin the week of September 9th, with the first progress report going home Friday, September 13th.
Progress Reports will be sent electronically and will only go to those students who have a 70% or less in a subject. These are sent as a way for you as parents and guardians to have early intervention with us if your student is struggling with work or content in a subject.
Weekly newsletters with information for the week will be sent Monday mornings for you to have a preview into the homework for the week.
Electives & Friday Homerooms
This year, electives will meet Monday - Friday during 7th period. Our electives are available for choice in our form attached here: Elective Form
The detailed list of elective offerings can be found here: List of Offerings
For 6th grade parents: Our 6th grade Study Skills elective in first trimester will meet as a homeroom class and work on a study skills curriculum (including typing class!). The 6th grade will sign up for electives like the rest of the middle school students starting in second trimester 2024-25. If your 6th grader is interested in Chinese, they will begin that and opt out of the study skills elective in 1st trimester. Please sign up on the form if you are interested in Chinese.
Confirmation Classes
For our 7th and 8th grade students, confirmation classes will be taught at school in religion with Mr. Miller and Mrs. Hynes. The confirmation group will be pulled out periodically during our 7th period on Fridays for reflective time together.
There will be several meet ups with the parish starting in October. More information can be found here regarding the schedule.
If you are interested in having your student begin their confirmation journey here at St. Charles, please sign up at: Confirmation Sign up
