Faith-filled Disciples of Christ
A school library provides a place for students to connect to the world through literature and digital resources. Here at St. Charles we have access to a variety of resources for student use. Digital resources include World Book Online, Discovery Education, Proquest Library, and our Destiny Library Catalog that provides safe Internet access while searching at grade level. Our collection consists of 15,000 titles at all reading levels.
Working collaboratively with classroom teachers and Technology we have done a variety of research and hands-on activities that support the curriculum standards.
Examples:
Building Noah’s Ark - Students read the passage in the bible, research building a boat, and using materials in the maker space, construct a boat. A contest is held to see which boat stayed afloat the longest.
Early Explorers - Students choose an explorer to research. They create a slide presentation based on the research and present it to the class.
Mysteries of the Rosary - Students choose 1 Mystery of the rosary. Using their Bibles they find the passages that correspond to the mystery. When finished they make their own rosary.
